all about the birthday boy - googz
this weekend was all about celebrating googzie's birthday who flew all the way from london to spend his 30th with close friends. the festivities started even before the birthday boy and loni arrived. i tackled friday rush hour traffic to pick up aussies ray and nathan at jfk and then we headed to the city to meet up with esteeb and mikey. the five of us knocked down some drinks while waiting for googz and loni to arrive. once they arrived, of course, the celebration started. googz had to play catch up since we all had our drinks earlier on.

after they saw the yankees break their losing streak, saturday was spent just hanging out since everyone's pretty much jetlagged and wiped out from the night before. since the weather got better on sunday, walking around the city was a must. we split three ways, googz and nathan hitting up the touristy spots downtown, esteeb, ed, and ray doing some shopping, and loni and i hit up the antique markets in chelsea where i scored the second best birthday gift for googzie: a playboy from the month/year he was born. THE best birthday gift, of course, came from loni - a 50th anniversary fender strat (did i get that right this time???). absolutely awesome.

on monday, googzie's birthday, we all rendezvoused and feasted on the chef's degustation menu at nobu. great food. great drinks. great company. thirteen hundred bucks or so and tons of laughter later, there was nothing left to do but go back to esteeb's and devour the cheesecake that lj and i picked up from junior's. unfortunately, lj and i had to head back two hours north in order to catch a couple of hours of zzz's before heading to work.

to googzie, i hope we were able to make your 30th birthday in NYC memorable. you and loni come back soon! i miss you guys already............

Awesome photos! Aaahhh....brings tears - OF LAUGHTER - to my eyes! I had such a fab time hanging out with you guys and it was certainly a weekend to remember.

Thanks to EVERYONE for turning up in NYC and making it a birthday to remember for lil 'ol googzie. We spent almost an hour reminiscing as we were waiting to check in at JFK!
