my thoughts. exactly. |
April 19, 2005 it has been awhile since i've written in tagalog. here's my recent attempt.... one day... isang araw... habang ang ulan ay pumapatak sa tuktok nang kabukidan and puso ko'y bumibiyak puno nang kalungkutan. yaong araw na pinalad nagpaalam ang aking hirang at sa kanyang paglisan puso at kaluluwa ko’y kanyang sinaktan ngayon, heto ako hindi na makontento buhay ko’y hindi kompleto ngayong wala na ang hirang ko

goodness... my friends are a bunch of dorks! david - thanks for that uhm interesting translation. rayray - i'm going to make ur ass walk from the airport! ok, maybe not. Wow, I'm so impressed. I'm guessing "yaong araw" means "that day"? Is yaong a variation of "yung"? My tagalog is rusty! Ray, you're such a dork! You and Jolly could probabably construct tagalog sentences together! C!!!!!!!!!!! *mwah*mwah*mwah*mwah*mwah* i think that 'yung' is actually derived, or a slang of, 'yaong'. i used some old tagalog in the poem... that was only 1/2 a translation. if your poem was in mandarin or cantonese i probably would have known more words. hehe anyway, take care. really though, nice work. damn girlie. i don't even understand half the words of the poem! pero, maganda naman. napaka lalim ang vocabulary mo! kudos! don't hurt yourselves trying to translate. here's a good one emailed to me from a friend who was actually the inspiration for the poem(and he's not even filipino!): one day... isang araw... while the rains pour on the farmlands my heart is breaking apart full of sadness at the appointed day my love leaves and with her departure my heart and soul suffer now I am here no longer contented no longer complete now that my love is gone that is a great translation! i'll be a Junior Editor then. Line 4 should read "ang" not "and"? I'm asking, not telling.
