my thoughts. exactly. |
April 28, 2005 hapi berfdey tu meeeeeeeeeeee... i have been treating myself really well these past few months. it's about effing time. for christmas i got myself a nice car. granted it sucks in the snow, but its what i wanted and i got it. and for my berfdey, i went to the art store and treated myself to a shopping spree. ok, maybe not a shopping spree coz if i were REALLY to treat myself to a shopping spree then there'd be no limit set. but, since yours trully ain't shittin' gold, i had to make a bit of compromise with myself: me: i'm getting this. other me: no you're not. me: why not. other me: coz then you'd be broke. me: oh. ok, we're getting that one instead. good thing i didn't leave the rational me at home otherwise i would have maxed out my recently zero-balanced credit card (i have others that aren't zero balanced but more like halfway there). Anyway, i was there for two hours scrutinizing oil paints and canvases and turpentine and charchoal and gesso and brushes and whatever else i thought i might need to embark on painting again. damn brushes are expensive! the ones i wanted are the sable hair brushes that start at like $15 bucks and that's for the size 1!!! and since i'm working on rather sizeable canvas i need bigger brushes. and bigger brushes means more mula. i have old ones but some of them got ruined from moving two years ago so i need new ones... so i got some but i didn't get all the brushes that i wanted. and of course, i looked through all the easels they had on the floor and drooled on one that cost like $750 bucks. it was sexy. but, i had to settle with a not-so-sexy-not-drool-worthy model but would still do the work for $245. anyway, i'm going to be using it outside (since i can't paint in the house with tiny's hair flying all over the place - unless i start using it so i can finally call myself a mixed-medium artiste) so it should do the trick. now, here i am, $400 bucks poorer. that's a lot of mula but hey, it's mah berfdey and i owe myself a berfdey gift for the past 28 berfdeys that i didn't get me any. yeah yeah. i know that my berfedey is not until next month. not until the later part of next month even. but why make myself wait when i know i'm going to get it anyway? this way, i can get started on whatever it is that i'm going to be working on. and what is it that i'm going to be working on, you wonder. well, i'm wondering myself. i guess we'll see?

Lol i love treating myself too.. Go girl you go for it... kinda pisses me off tho too as I want to get so many things but credit card says NO!!!! But then I think... Hmmm GO ON.. You deserve it... and ohh yess I do! My brush with art (if you'll pardon the pun) did not go beyond the art lessons my mother had me and my sisters take during the summers of my youth. It got pretty freaky when we did the nudes, which always came toward the end of the courses. Please post pictures of your artwork. treating myself used to be a daily thing. i've learned how to cut back, but man, how many lustful moments are clocked staring at displays.
